Purpose

Prepares shipments and domestic and export documents, contacts, and carriers. Maintains logs for billing/shipments, and customer charges. Reports daily and monthly totals. Receives materials and provides support to operations by transporting and delivering raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and MRO purchased materials.

Essential Responsibilities

Loads and unloads trucks at shipping/receiving dock.

  • Verifies items on packing list(s) against purchase order.

Maintains receiving log.

Unloads sheet and coil stock.

  • Checks chemical analysis in QAD, gages and measures width of material, logs in material, receives material in to QAD.

Maintains finished goods inventory.

  • Pulls stock, receives and stores stock, and removes obsolete material.
  • Resolves problems with Quality on non-conforming materials.
  • Performs annual and monthly counts.

Distributes MRO’s to staging areas in all departments.

Maintains QAD inventory and shipping/receiving records.

  • Accurately accounts for all materials received or transferred to departments

Maintains daily fork lift log.

  • Observes safety rules and procedures required for safe fork lift operations.

Participates as a member of the Shipping/Receiving Team.

  • Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.
  • Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Shipping/Receiving Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas of lack of cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues effecting cohesiveness.
  • Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Operates computer systems to print packing slips.

  • Verifies packing slips with sales orders, carton addresses, and posts shipments.

Maintains UPS books and operates the UPS electronic scale, register and printer.

Ensures the accuracy of prepared export papers, air bills, and other freight charges/documents.

Prepares bills of lading for truck, FEDEX, Emery, etc.

Operates fork-lift trucks, pallet jacks and company vehicles as required.

Participates in continuous improvement processes.

  • Participates in continuous improvement processes individually and with teams, and champions projects to improve cost, quality, and delivery.

Participates as a member of the Shipping / Receiving Team.

Competencies

Educational Requirements Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Technical Experience: Previous receiving experience preferred.

Industry Experience: Previous manufacturing experience preferred. Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.

Computer Skills: Ability to operate manufacturing operating systems.
