The Volusia Manufacturers Association (VMA) celebrated the best in manufacturing in Volusia County Oct. 23 at its Annual Awards Banquet at the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club, Daytona Beach. Hudson Technologies was recognized as the area’s top manufacturing company and was named the 2008 Manufacturer of the Year, the Association’s most prestigious award.

“Hudson Technologies has a dynamic strategic and operational processes, and well defined metrics. Their leadership, ethics and market focus are outstanding,” said VMA Award Chair Perry Sperber, president of Precision Engineered Systems. “Most of all, they truly care about their employees. They empower them, educate them and support them 100 percent. Their team environment is above and beyond the best we’ve seen.”

Sperber also noted Hudson Technologies’ efforts to become a green manufacturer by eliminating trichloroethylene (TCE) this year, a goal which took two years and over $2 million to accomplish. (editors note: TCE is a hazardous solvent-based cleaner commonly used to remove chlorinated lubricants used in the manufacturing process.)

Hudson Technologies President Mark Andrews accepted the award ‘on behalf of his 230 teammates.’ Andrews came to Hudson in 2004 from JSJ Corporation, Hudson’s parent company. He has 38 years of manufacturing experience, of which 32 years are with JSJ.
