The E. W. Bliss Company had a competition to find the oldest press still in daily operation. They found the oldest press at Hudson Tool & Die in Newark NJ. The Bliss No. 1 1/2 drawing press was built in 1882 and was still in Daily use at Hudson. The Hudson press was initially exhibited at the 1976 International Machine Tools Show in Chicago, then it was donated to the Smithsonian where it was put on display in the Smithsonian’s Hall of Industry.

This is the Hudson – Bliss press as it appeared in the Smithsonian’s Hall of Industry.
